01 / THE PROGRAMME
What does ISO certification mean?
Management system certification to ISO standards
ISO standards give organisations a framework for managing specific objectives, from quality and environmental performance to workplace safety and information security. Certification can provide independent confirmation that a defined management system meets a particular standard. ISO develops standards but does not certify organisations or issue certificates. Choosing the relevant standard and a suitable certification body comes before preparing the application.
02 / THE FIT
Is it relevant to your business?
Who it may suit
- Manufacturers and service businesses that want more consistent working practices.
- Organisations responding to a customer, supply-chain or tender requirement for a specific standard.
- Businesses reviewing an existing system or preparing to integrate several management systems.
Potential value
- Can make responsibilities, processes and performance measures clearer.
- May help demonstrate conformity to a relevant customer or contractual requirement.
- Can provide a structured way to review risks, findings and improvement actions.
03 / THE SCOPE
Know the scope before you start.

04 / THE JOURNEY
From first review to follow-through.

Clarify the business objective, locations, activities and customer requirements to be covered.
- 02
Review the existing system
Identify relevant processes, evidence and gaps against the selected standard.

- 04
Seek independent assessment
Engage a suitable certification body, address its findings and maintain the system after certification.
05 / YOUR STARTING POINT
Bring the right information.
Use this as a starting checklist. The final document list depends on your scope and the current programme requirements.
- The standard requested by your customer or business objective.
- A proposed scope covering activities and locations.
- An overview of processes, responsibilities and existing procedures.
- Relevant policies, objectives and performance records.
- Available internal audit, review and corrective-action records.
- Existing certificates and any specific buyer or tender conditions.
06 / A PRACTICAL PARTNER
How Aegis can help.
- Help compare relevant standards and define a practical preparation scope.
- Support gap reviews, management-system documentation and team readiness.
- Coordinate certification preparation and improvement follow-up with your chosen body.
Consulting and preparation support. Official assessments, certification and assistance decisions stay with the responsible bodies.
07 / COMMON QUESTIONS
A little more clarity.
Can ISO or Aegis issue our certificate?
ISO does not perform certification. Aegis provides consulting and preparation; an independent certification body conducts the certification assessment and makes its own decision.
Does management system certification certify every product?
No. A management system certificate covers its stated standard and scope. Product testing, product certification and statutory approvals may be separate requirements.
Can we use a standard without certification?
Yes. An organisation can implement a management system standard for its own improvement without seeking certification. Customers, contracts or other obligations may create separate requirements.
